I'm trying to figure out what's going on with the NookTouch/Nook Simple Touch edit conflict. I think NookTouch was the original article, but since the product has always been called Nook Simple Touch someone started renaming stuff and now we have some articles calling it NookTouch and some Nook Simple Touch. I think we need some agreement here. Are we keeping it as NookTouch or are we changing articles to refer to the product by its B&N name Nook Simple Touch? --Spec 10:53, 10 January 2012 (PST)

Looking at wikipedia it seems like they've renamed all the products after B&N renamed them. I think that's the proper way to go - so I'm leaning towards refering to it as Nook Simple Touch --Spec 10:59, 10 January 2012 (PST)
I've been doing everything link wise as NookTouch mostly because it's just easier, however any text in an article I tend to put as "Nook Simple Touch" since that is it's "official" name and in hopes to clarify between this and the Nook Tablet that for some reason people get confused. --GabrialDestruir
Just for the purpose of linking we could create a redirect from NookTouch to Nook Simple Touch. Problem here is that there's now about 5 pages that begin with NookTouch and 1 or 2 with Nook Simple Touch, we also have 2 categories. I just want this wiki to be consistent and if we're picking a name it would be good to go with the official one. It's not like with original nook that it was changed by BN twice over the years. What do you think about NookTouch redirect to Nook Simple Touch? Would that work for you? --Spec 12:21, 10 January 2012 (PST)
Sure, that'd be fine, I'm all for trying to keep it uniform. --GabrialDestruir
All done. Hope I didn't miss anything --Spec 10:32, 11 January 2012 (PST)

USB host potential?

Is it true that the Nook Simple Touch has the correct hardware for a USB host, but not the hardware code to make it work? If this is true, I would pay for the code to be written, plus whatever other code is necessary to make the NST able to receive input from a USB keyboard. Please PM me or respond here. Thanks!!! --Andrewed 15:01, 11 January 2012 (PST)

What if you run vnc server on the nook and connect to it through PC with a keyboard? You'd be able to type with the keyboard on your nook (I presume) --Spec 19:12, 11 January 2012 (PST)
Thanks for reply, Spec! Yes, I have seen ihavenotlife videos of this on youtube using Nulana Remotix. He is the one who told me the Nook just needs hardware code to do what I want: direct, wired connection between nook and keyboard, with no wirelessness going on to do it... Now, halfway through replying to you here, I found this amazing post at xda-developers by a guy and a bunch of followers who have DONE it! NST USB Host support: [1]--Andrewed 17:59, 12 January 2012 (PST)
Oops, it is just for Nook Color. But maybe it is applicable to the Simple Touch. I have written the original poster to see what terms he would do it on.--Andrewed 04:15, 13 January 2012 (PST)

UPDATE: NST USB host now working! I asked verygreen, the guy who got the USB host working on the Nook Color, if he would try it with the NST. He said yes, so I bought him one and he got it working with a keyboard in 48 hours. Also got some advice from ros87. See hack details, including video of typing, at: (WIP) USB Host support (working). See my thread at mobileread about this, too Project: E-Paper Tablet (typable!).--Andrewed 21:36, 22 January 2012 (PST)
