Talk:Trook
From nookDevs
"I'm new to Android, though I have plenty of Linux experience. I have installed Trook, but I can't tell where it installed it. How do I run it?"
Install the nooklauncher as well, makes life much easier.
That would be great, except that the download for nooklauncher is missing from the site, and has been for days. Could you upload it as an attachment here?
Update: found NookLauncher's site at Google Code, downloaded and it works great. And added link to the app web page.
Does anyone know if trook can access calibre servers that are password protected?

Adding new feeds to Trook - How to?
How do you add new feeds to Trook permanently? Now I have to add it every time I launch Trook.
--You have to create a "My feeds" folder and put NAMEOFTHEBOOKMARK.bookmark inside, which contains the url of the feed.
Can't go back to Trook (bthoven: 6 May 2010 8:00am UT)
I have been using Trook 53 for quite some time without problem in softrooted 1.2. However, Trook under new softrooted 1.3 always use Nook new browser to open feed link. I have this problem: - I've quit Trook whilst I'm in Nook browser (quit by tapping Nook home icon) - Now if I open Trook again, it will go direct to Nook browser - when I press back arrow in Nook Browser, it will always go back to Nook stock home screen with Nook stock icon selection
So now I can't even go into other Trook functions, no matter what.
Do I have to uninstal Trook and reinstall it?
Can trook still use softrooted NookBrowser instead of the new stock browser? --bthoven 6 May 2010 8:00am UTC
- I am experiencing the same thing bthoven is with the 1.3 + Trook.
- When I open a feed that goes to the browser, there is no way to close it. n takes me back to the nook menu, and entering Trook again, takes me to the place it left off. Only a hard reset fixes that.
- Any other solution? --Fuzzie 13:41, 6 May 2010
- I have to uninstal Trook and re-install it (I choose to install newer version) via adb+wifi. It is ok now, but not sure it will happen again. --bthoven 20:23, 6 May 2010
I uninstalled Trook and reinstalled...that seemed to fix the problem...thanks!
Doesn't seem to work for me - any other solutions (and what is the newest version - maybe that will help) I'm using Trook 0.53
I got stuck by going to a web page from trook. Every time I relaunched trook it took me to that page in the webbrowser instead. Re-booting got me out of that. Jonny 20:45, 4 June 2010 (PDT)
Trook's Browser Useragent
(hailukah) Is the Trook browser useragent set as a mobile browser? With the limited controls available it is easier to read mobile versions of websites. The mobile version is also quicker to load. Just a thought.
(bthoven)It seems to set as mobile browser (after I tried opening a few links) because all the texts fit the e-ink screen.
(hailukah) I've done some testing and no it doesn't appear to use a mobile browser user-agent string. Compare the feeds http://mobile.reuters.com/reuters/rss/TECH.xml and in Trook.
I also opened the reuters.com home page in Google Chrome with the user agent set to a known mobile phone's browser user-agent string and reuters.com can detect a mobile user-agent and automatically redirects to the mobile version of the site.
Can't search calibre content server with Trook
I have installed Trook and can browse my library. However, when I try to search (for example, I clear the search text box and enter "sunset") my calibre server, I receive a "Could not fetch /stanza/?search=sunset: java.net.MalformedURLException [gets cut off here]\n not found: /stanza/?search=sunset". When I point my computer to localhost:8080/stanza/?search=sunset, I do see an atom feed of all books with sunset. Please advice. Thank you.
The same here, with Trook rev68 and a slightly modified Calibre 0.7.7 (which would not work beyond its top-level feeds at all otherwise). The MalformedURLException indicates that this is an issue within Trook: they try to parse a relative server-side path as a URL. I'll have a look at the Trook source code once I've got an Android development environment set up. The issue should probably reported to the Trook devs, if it hasn't already. --Curio 10:51, 7 July 2010 (PDT)
Can't search for any content at gutenberg, munseys, etc.
When I try to put a search element in I get an error.
I receive a "Could not fetch search=robot: java.net.MalformedURLException
Runing Trook rev:68
kbs?
Is it known where kbs is? It would be great to get some sort of blessing or merge or something to get the version numbers back to normal. (and a great developer back on nook development) --Spec 20:44, 15 September 2010 (PDT)
2 things
so i finally made trook connect to calibre on another computer. I've encountered 1 issue, 1 inconvenience: the section 'How do I change the default settings for Foo' says to adjust settings in file /data/data/com.kbs.trook/TrookPreferences.xml . That file does not exist in rev:1.4 . I tried to locate the source code for it, but it's not clear where it is (the source for 1.4 not kbs versions). Did anyone figure this one out?
The inconvenience is just like a lot of nookdevs software everything squeezed into to the small touchscreen, while the main screen remains blank. that's a big waste of screen real estate, and a big inconvenience to look at everything on the touchscreen. Could we move all of the stuff that doesn't need to be interacted with to the main screen? --Spec 08:07, 20 September 2010 (PDT)
