Welcome to the Nook Color Portal on NookDevs.com

Note: This is a wiki for a reason. If you see something that's wrong, don't ask that it be fixed, please pretty please just fix it. As they say on wikipedia, edit boldly.
This page aims to be your guide to customizing your Nook Color. A lot of topics are available here, but almost all of the start with the process of "rooting". Rooting comes to the Nook Color from the Android community where it has come to mean unlocking the device and getting access to do whatever you want with it. Thus, making it yours. We hope you find the information below useful. If you find something wrong, as the note says: Just fix it.

Basic Information

1.0.1 update from BN was released 17 Dec 2010

Note: Rooted NookColors will attempt to update to 1.0.1 over the air. They will fail. You will have to restore to factory and then update.
